James Varela is an accomplished filmmaker, photographer, creative director, and travel enthusiast residing in Southern California. He hopes to inspire others through his craft by creating meaningful visual narratives. As many did, James' drive and passion for photography began when he first experimented with his parent's camera at a young age. His journey into photography deepened as he honed his skills shooting low-res photos on a GoPro Hero 3. Through this hands-on experience, James gained a comprehensive understanding of photography, from technical aspects to creative composition. This foundational knowledge later blossomed into a fervent pursuit of filmmaking, driven by a desire to tell compelling stories.

Born and raised in Southern California, James has taken his skills all around the world, now residing in Bali, Indonesia.
